Fees and Compensation
Philosophy
I work in the Gift Economy, which means that I do not have set fees for my work. I am inspired to work and live in this way by my friend Tree Bressen, a facilitator who lives and works on the West Coast. On her website, she gives a detailed definition of the Gift Economy and her reasons for participating in it, which summarize the idea beautifully.
In working with an individual taking a workshop, a collective, or an organization, I ask that folks pay what makes sense and fits within their budget. If a well-financed organization has generous funds set aside for facilitation and training services, fantastic. If a small collective has no budget, we find means of mutual aid (I once received a recycled lamp in exchange for a workshop on consensus - and I love that lamp). I am excited to be at a point in my life where I can focus solely on the work I love to do and the skills I love to use. I am thrilled to be able to use revolutionary strategies as a part of making this work viable and accessible to others.
Standard Rates
People often ask me to give a quote or standard by which to figure out what would be an appropriate gift. I have included here some guidance on how to figure out what a normal payment could be.
Standard Rate for a Day of Facilitation (includes prep and follow up): $1500.00
Sliding Scale for Organizations with limited budgets: $150.00 - $1000.00
Trades I have accepted in lieu of funds: Childcare, Packing/Moving Assistance, Web Design, Recycled Lamp, Soil, Retreat Space...
